HMKV lesen

With HMKV lesen, the HMKV invites you to read and discuss together on the occasion of the exhibition Holding Pattern (15 March - 27 July 2025).

The exhibition was first shown at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo in 2022. It goes back to an invitation by its then director Anne Hilde Neset to the award-winning writer Tom McCarthy to explore the themes addressed in his books in greater depth through contemporary art. Which (movement) patterns determine our lives? What rituals, rhythms and algorithms characterise the modern world, and what role do humans play in it? By reading together, taking up the thematic content of the exhibited works, new perspectives are opened up that make art accessible and understandable in very different ways.

During a tour of the exhibition, the content discussed will then be discussed together directly in front of the works.
