2025: HMKV presents two international group exhibitions
In 2025, the HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein is presenting two international group exhibitions featuring an outstanding line-up: the exhibition Holding Pattern – And Other Loops (15 March - 27 July 2025), curated by Anne Hilde Neset and award-winning novelist Tom McCarthy, is dedicated to patterns of movement, loops and repetitions that determine our lives and shows six artworks, including those of Stan Douglas, Harun Farocki, Susan Philipsz and Elisabeth Price. The exhibition was on show at the Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo in 2022 and is coming to Dortmund at the invitation of Dr Inke Arns, Director of the HMKV. The exhibition Genossin Sonne (Comrade Sun) will start in late summer (13 September 2025 - 18 January 2026). The exhibition Genossin Sonne (Comrade Sun), curated by Dr Inke Arnsand Andrea Popelka, was shown with great success at the Kunsthalle Wien as part of the Vienna Festival I Free Republic of Vienna 2024, directed by Milo Rau. The exhibition will be presented at Dortmunder U in an expanded form on two floors. Among others, the exhibition will feature expansive works by Katharina Sieverding, Anton Vidokle, Suzanne Treister, and The Otolith Group.
Both exhibitions will be accompanied by an extensive program of public tours, artist talks, readings, lectures, workshops, and short film evenings.
