“Moving Bodies & Motion Capture” – Lecture by Erika Balsom on 15 May at HMKV

On 15 May at 19:00, renowned film scholar Erika Balsom (King's College, London) will present a lecture on Harun Farocki's last, unrealized project Moving Bodies at the HMKV in Dortmunder U.

In her lecture, Balsom will offer fascinating insights into the conceptual underpinnings of this unfinished work, which explores the technical recording and analysis of movement. She will also connect Moving Bodies to Farocki's later works, such as Parallel I-IV (2012-2014), which similarly investigate the representation and control of movement through technical devices.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion with Thomas Venker (Kaput Magazin), which will include a focus on Harun Farocki.

The evening promises to offer intriguing perspectives on Farocki's thought and the visual logic of control. Admission is free, and no registration is required. The event will be held in English.
