Requiem for a Bank

Publication | 2014 | 18,00 €

The catalogue to accompany the exhibition Requiem for a Bank focuses on the world of finance. It documents artistic positions from various disciplines such as media art, fine arts, photography, performance and architecture. The artists explore how technological and political circumstances have furthered the rapid growth of financial markets since the 1970s, how the crises of 2007- have affected society, and how our concepts of money as a medium and an exchange value have been changed by digitization and networking – from coins and paper money to purely virtual currencies.

The documentation of the exhibited artworks is complemented by theoretical and literary contributions by Joseph Vogl, Jörg Albrecht, Fabian Saavedra-Lara, and Johanna-Yassira Kluhs.

Artists: Claire Fontaine, Ilona Gaynor, Goldin+Senneby, Jens Heitjohann, Invisible Playground, Toril Johannessen, Jens Jarisch (with Dirk von Lowtzow), Anja Kirschner and David Panos, Carmen Losmann, machina eX, Aernout Mik, Zoe Papadopoulou, Tobias Revell, Hans Richter, RYBN.ORG, Andrés Senra, Urban-Think Tank / ETH Zürich, Gillian Wearing, Sislej Xhafa
