Amalopa Community Hang Out

Amalopa is a formation, a platform, a space and a voice for diasporic club and pop culture. We position ourselves as POC and declare Amalopa as a solidary BIPOC Space for the production and publication of music, art and knowledge. We, that is Özlem Avcı, Gin Bali, Wagma Bromand, Guy Dermosessian and Kübra Sekin and all BIPOC who want to expand the space.

For our Community Hang Out for Clubprojekt Dortmund, we invite artists* and Friends whose perspectives on pop music as a diasporic practice of resistance include (POV yani).

A radio show that can be experienced online as well as in front of the recorder, Gneisenaustraße 55 44147 Dortmund.

This event is part of the programme of the cooperation project „Club, Kunst & Kultur“ by the HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein and the UZWEI at the Dortmunder U with the exhibitions Can’t Get You Out of My Head in seven Dortmund clubs and hello again at the UZWEI at the Dortmunder U.

C:mone is known for her very versatile sets and brings record bags filled with black jazz, soul, funk and R&B.


Rubimental (Bochum)

17:00 - 18:00

Rubimental is a DJ from Bochum who combines the best of hip-hop, rap, dancehall, afro and future beats in her sets. As a PoC, it is especially important to her to highlight FLINTA* artists and draw attention to inequalities in the scene. Ayawa (Wuppertal)

Ayawa: (she /her), aka CJ, aka Chimene, aka Amanda , is currently studying media and cultural studies in Düsseldorf and is a DJ, organizer ,1/3 of Confused and a part of the YAYA network from Wuppertal.

Through the parties of YAYA which sweetened the lives of many people before Corona times and her love for 2000 R`n`B, Female Rap and Afro House Ayawa found the way to DJing. Through her DJ support for the artist Kaleo Sansaa as well as DJ sets for the Schwarze Haus Düsseldorf, she can be found not only in Wuppertal. Ayawa`s sets are filled with sweet 2000 R`n`B love, bad bitch vibes and booty shakes that make hearts beat faster in the club.


Jungle Lady (Cologne)

JungleLady's music offers a wide mix of RnB,Hiphop and Afro-Soul.

The singer/rapper with roots in Togo produces many of her songs herself and takes you on an exciting journey.


Wagma/Gin (Wuppertal/Bonn)

Gin Bali (YAYA.Wuppertal)

Gin Bali is a guitarist, singer, music educator, organizer, DJ and producer.

Born and raised in Bonn, she landed in Wuppertal via London, Hamburg and Berlin. Here she studied classical guitar as a major and singing as a minor.

Her sounds are shaped by her personal exploration of her diasporic self, which actually redefines itself for her every hour. She usually combines her artistic self and her activism to create something new from it. For example, since March 2019 she runs the event "YAYA" in the Mauke Wuppertal, is the founder of the label Confused, chairwoman of the board in YAYA e.V. and runs several other projects in different areas, which combines her being influenced by classical music and club world. Besides her work as a solo DJ she is also known as Gisi from the producer and DJ duo Hari&Gisi.


Monita Wagma (Cup Of Tea.Bonn/Cologne)

Monita comes from Moni and Wagma means shiny morning dew or morning breeze. The double name of the DJ stands for hybridity, because their repertoire cannot be assigned to any particular genre. The selection is versatile, timeless and deliberately chosen.

Monita Wagma is a radio host, passionate DJ & Islamic scholar with a focus on social sciences. Geographically, she regularly commutes between Cologne, Bonn and Duisburg. Professionally, she is active in the field of democracy and tolerance promotion. In "Cup of Tea" she can be heard live once a month on 674.FM.
