In this book club, we will read and discuss literature in connection with the current exhibition Comrade Sun (13 September 2025 – 18 January 2026).
The essayistic group exhibition Comrade Sun explores artistic works and theories that link the cosmos—especially the sun, the source of all life on Earth—with social and political movements.
In a relaxed atmosphere, we will share ideas and read excerpts from selected texts together, ranging from poetry and non-fiction to literary classics. The discussions will continue during a guided tour of the exhibition.
The reading assignment is 10 to 15 pages per session.

On this date, we focus on Etel Adnan’s poetry collection The Arab Apocalypse—59 poems written in response to the 59 days of the 1976 siege of the Palestinian refugee camp Tel al-Zaatar in Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990). Born in Beirut herself, Adnan weaves together powerful poetic texts with abstract drawings and paintings that heighten the emotional force of her words. We will read and discuss a selection of her poems.
*The reading excerpts will be announced after registration and can also be sent by email upon request. All works discussed in this program are available for purchase through our partner Transfer. Bücher und Medien or in our bookshop.
